ADAMHS Day Service (Adult Disability and Mental Health Services)

Monday-Friday 08:30-15:30

ADAMHS

ADAMHS is not a traditional day service, it is a modern environment for adults 16+ with learning disabilities and/or mental health support needs to express themselves and build relationships.

The service that we provide is a fully supervised, adult learning disability/mental health day group, that focuses on empowering the service user and building their presence in society. At ADAMHS we can provide social learning experiences and we can provide opportunities for learning employability skills. It is important to us that group members feel part of the group rather than attending a day centre. ADAMHS is a place where you come to be yourself, learn valuable life skills and make lasting friendships.

We will work together to identify the service user’s choices and provide training for life skills, social confidence and provide an anti-oppressive environment for people to develop. A person-centred approach with activities that are inclusive, that encourage social interaction between service users and members of the public.

Some of the important topics we will explore as a group are:

  • Personal safety
  • Relationships
  • Internet safety awareness
  • Social and personal development
  • Employment aspirations

It's not all serious, we provide a safe social environment where service users can develop relationships and explore different ways of expressing themselves. There will be music and movies that are decided on by the group. There will be the latest games provided as a group activity using the Nintendo Switch and the Sony PlayStation. There is a Pool table, outdoor Table Tennis and we will go on regular walks outside, weather permitting. We will go out and do things like go bowling or visit the seaside. We operate a system where we create a service user council and they will have time to discuss what they want for the group. They can decide together on things like;

  • Activities
  • Music
  • New games to include
  • Movies
  • Party themes
  • Trips out
  • Any other topics that they feel are important

We will provide hot and cold drinks, you are welcome to bring a packed lunch or you can cook your own lunch.
